Country Guides
Investing basics, country by country
The general lessons apply everywhere in Latin America — but the regulator, the deposit-protection scheme, the government-bond platform (if any) and the tax rules are all local. Pick your country for the specifics.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the country matter so much for investing basics?
Every country has its own financial regulator, deposit-insurance scheme, tax authority and set of accessible instruments. A platform that is safe and regulated in Mexico tells you nothing about a similarly named one in Colombia — always check locally.
Can I invest in a country I don't live in?
Often yes, subject to that country's rules on non-resident accounts, but it usually adds complexity (tax treaties, currency conversion, sometimes local ID requirements). Most beginners are better served starting in their own country of residence first.
These guides mention taxes — is that financial advice?
No. Tax rules mentioned here are general and change often; they are a starting point for your own research, not a substitute for checking the current rules with your country's tax authority or a licensed accountant.
